DUET FOR ONE
I am excited to share this interview about DUET FOR ONE in the Writers Center Magazine. I hope you enjoy it.
DUET FOR ONE comes out May 6. I’m excited! It’s helpful if you could pre-order it, and if you could possibly post a review on Amazon or Goodreads.
Please join me in launching DUET at DC’s Politics & Prose on May 6, or at NY’s Joe’s Pub on May 13, or at NY’s Coffee House Club on May 14, or at Main Point Books in Wayne PA on May 21.
Poetry note
For folks in the DMV, here’s a new poetry series that my wonderful neighbor, Josh Smith, is curating at the DC Arts Center. The first program is April 27 at 3 PM.
Catholic publication and Jewish Seder
I just published an article in Image Journal, a Catholic publication with an ecumenical, spiritual, and intellectual focus. My piece begins with me playing Berlioz in an orchestra, progresses through some demonic history, takes a passing look at Jewish dybbuks, and ends in our “Faustocene Age.” I’m thrilled to honor Ed Simon’s amazing work.
Last weekend, we hosted a Passover Seder. Everyone brought something (I made salmon, vegetarian matzah ball soup broth, and cheesecake, while my daughters made too many dishes to list). All the contributions were delicious.
We were north of 25 people, including some people we didn’t know. It’s part of the tradition to be inclusive, and to remember to take care of the “strangers” among us. Which brings me to the heinous federal regime.
Republic of Cruelty
NO Darth Vader! We do not support harassing and deporting people. How dare you claim to do it on behalf of Jewish people like me? YES we are in favor of free speech. YES we are disgusted by the arrests of people whose views may differ from ours. This is America, and in America we have to stand up for each other.
We must resist. Let’s make our voices heard. Tell your representatives to stand up for all of us, not just billionaires. Insist that immigrants are our neighbors and family and that we will not tolerate deportations and harassment.
The next national day of action is today, April 19. Please check here for more information on your locality.
I commend Timothy Snyder’s recent piece “The Logic of Destruction, and How To Resist.”
If you are a lawyer or want to protest law firms who prefer lining their pockets to serving the public, please consider attending this protest at the Supreme Court sponsored by Lawyers for Good Government at noon on May 1.
