Barbie meets Three Muses, book recommendations, & more
I’ve had the good fortune to be holed up in rainy, beautiful New Hampshire working on revisions to DUET FOR ONE (pub date 5.25, too far away to think about).
I had a lovely time signing copies of THREE MUSES at Main Street BookEnds in Warner, NH, a bookshop-gallery that is well worth a visit.
With some time to catch up on reading, I have two wonderful books to recommend. The first is Christine Grillo’s HESTIA STRIKES A MATCH, spoofing online dating during a 2023 American civil war. I enjoyed meeting Chris when we were on a panel together at the Annapolis Book Festival. Despite its premise, this book is full of humor and humanity. The writing is terrific.
I also want to recommend Laura Scalzo’s AMERICAN ARCADIA, a haunting book about coming of age in New York City during the AIDS epidemic. Laura and I have the privilege of sharing a publisher, Regal House. I’m a serious Laura fan.
I haven’t yet had the chance to see the Barbie movie, but I was tickled that the Jewish Book Council paired Barbie Ballerina with THREE MUSES here. Who knew?

I enjoyed my interview with author Lily Iona MacKenzie. You can read it here.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer. Read on!
Love, Martha
