Last weekend I had a terrific time in Raleigh, NC celebrating the tenth anniversary of my publisher, Regal House. Fellow authors gathered to celebrate the outstanding leadership of Editor-in-Chief Jaynie Royal and Managing Editor Pam Van Dyk.
I’m not alone in my gratitude for these two women’s heroic efforts to bring our books to the public. Ever since that first phone call awarding me the Petrichor Prize for Finely Crafted Fiction, Regal House has taken wonderful care of me. I’m thrilled that my second novel, DUET FOR ONE, comes out with Regal in May 2025.
Our closing night reception featured an insane array of cakes and pies, always a key to my heart.
Here’s an interview I just published in Pointe Magazine with ballerina Lydia Abarca Mitchell and writer Karen Valby, who tells her story along with four others, in THE SWANS OF HARLEM. Please join us May 3 at 7 PM at Politics & Prose, where I will get to interview them in person.
Wishing you a happy and healthy spring.
Love, Martha
P.S. ICYMI, here is last week’s newsletter.
Thank you for the Swans of Harlem interview. It inspires me how Arthur Mitchell built DTH in a church basement. The Swan Lake photo brings me to tears.
Delightful, Martha, and thank you for allowing us to share the column with others!
