I hope spring has come to wherever you are.
Please join me tomorrow night (Thursday April 13 at 8 PM Eastern) for a virtual conversation with the amazing Kiese Laymon. I am SO excited! Here is the link: https://www.loyaltybookstores.com/threemuses
I’m delighted to share my review for the Washington Post of THE SERGEANT by Dean Calbreath. The book’s subtitle says it all: “The Incredible Life of Nicholas Said: Son of an African General, Slave of the Ottomans, Free Man Under the Tsars, Hero of the Union Army.”
I’m also delighted to share my interview with Davon Loeb for Lilith Magazine about his lyrical book, THE IN-BETWEENS. The book is a beautiful memoir composed of short chapters that look at his childhood—growing up in a Black family with a (largely absent) Jewish father.
I had a wonderful time speaking to the Bethesda Women’s Club yesterday about THREE MUSES. They asked great questions and were kind enough to send me home with yellow roses!
ICYMI, here is my March 29 newsletter called: “Talking with Kiese Laymon; and when words don’t belong together.”
Lots of love,
Martha
