The cherry trees were stunning this past week in Washington, a reminder that beautiful things can happen here.

DUET FOR ONE is coming out May 6. Events—some with live music—are planned on the east coast and in Berkeley. Check out the Events page of my website to find one. The page will update as details are finalized.
Please consider pre-ordering DUET FOR ONE. Pre-publication sales, as well as ratings/comments on Goodreads or Amazon matter for authors. Thank you!

It is a travesty that Kevin Young is on leave from the National Museum of African American History. Kevin Young is an American treasure. He is world-renowned poet (I loved DEAR DARKNESS). He is a brilliant scholar. His book, THE GREY ALBUM: ON THE BLACKNESS OF BLACKNESS is among the most important books I’ve ever read.

Martha
P.S. ICYMI, here’s last week’s Substack newsletter, “Creation myth.”
Shout loudly as you can on Saturday--and give a shout for me. I have to teach, but I will be there in spirit.
