Such a beautiful story, Martha! I too suffered through piano (and violin) lessons. My mom gave up by middle school. I love that your piano is going to a loving home. ❤️

I love this story! The importance of finding the right home for some of our important things. My brother just gave or sold the upright second hand piano my parents bought for me. I only made it through two years of lessons. Didn't like my teacher, but I loved the piano. It later went to my nephews and then they were done.

Yay for the great book news!! I'm so happy for you, too.

I had a The same spinet that my grandfather bought me in third grade and took lessons for five years. Ive always enjoyed being able to read music and play a few favorites and carols. That piano followed me from NY to NC, because like you, I had great difficulty trashing it. We live in a rural area with a Mennonite neighborhood nearby. One of the women there now has it and gives lessons on it. I couldn’t be happier that, like yours, it found a second home.

Congratulations on the novel! Very exciting to birth a book baby!!

Love this story - I inherited a piano from my aunt who played only when she was alone. It figures in the novel I have written inspired by her. My kids took lessons on it, but the lessons didn't take and it sat unused for more than almost 20 years. I am 63 and I have started to try to teach myself. I try to only play when I am alone, but during covid, Maria has suffered through my amusicality. If I keep practicing at my current rate, I will be able to play Happy Birthday to myself when I am 73. But I am enjoying it,
